Here are some photos of my buddy running the NYC Marathon and his narration.
This first one is coming off of the 59th Street Bridge. Note the fist held high with confidence as I sense this is the time to make my move. I am confident that the Kenyan and the other 18,000 people ahead of me will be disqualified for various training and drug violations. No signs of fatigue here...
(Below) Here I am about to overtake a Chinese runner in a symbolic movement of Western Democracy past Eastern Communism. The part you don't see is me grabbing his flag and otherwise agitating him as I pass. (notice the runners flanking me grow wearier as I blow by them)
I allow myself a brief moment of uncontrolled jubilation here. After taking my hat off to celebrate the victory, I go to consult with the race officials and plead my case for the first prize. Shortly after, roses and shouts of "Ole" and "you the man" are heaped upon me. The pain starts to set in and my entourage begins fervently massaging my legs... |
